Beginner questions Thread milling Pocket V2-10

Hello everyone, hello dear Penta employees,

My name is Christian, I am 36 years old and come from Germany, living in Regensburg near Munich (Bavaria).

I own a Pocket V2-10. The machine was manufactured in 2018 and delivered by Penta in November. The machine number is 1355.

I still have the older Legacy Software version with update v4.8.1.

I have owned the machine since January 2015 and am still a beginner and inexperienced.

I program with Fusion, but I am still a beginner and have little experience.

Now I have a question: I need to machine several threads: M5, M10x1, and M12.

Is it possible to do thread milling with the Pocket NC?

I would appreciate any help or information.

Happy holidays!

Regards, Christian

I have milled threads on my V2-10 (M3 and 4-40). It’s easy with a thread milling tool.

I realet reconmend to Upgrade the software to Kinetic Control. Worth every penny!

Hi Mats,

I’m going to test thread milling. There’s definitely a cycle for thread milling in Fusion. Attached is a photo of my thread mill. The thread mill has a pitch of 1 mm.

I am trying to drill a hole with a 5mm solid carbide drill.

Can you drill with the 5mm pocket?

Who has experience with this?

Hello everyone, Merry Christmas to all dear community members and Penta Team staff QRothing and Bob Johnsen, John Staff.

I milled an M6 thread with a thread mill. Here is a photo of the aluminum test component prototype and the milling tools, thread mill and single-tooth mill D3mm.

The first three centering attempts were done with a D5mm drill, but that didn’t work. The spindle power and the torque of the pocket are too weak for the D5mm drill. I produced the clearance hole D5.035mm using a milling drill.

The quality of the thread flanks is not so good. But the M6 screw can be screwed in.

I work completely dry (to protect the machine).

Is there an MMS lubrication so that it runs smoother during milling?

Can someone give me a tip or advice?

Best regards, Christian from Munich, Germany.

Merry Christmas

And I wish you lots of presents, stay healthy, that is the most important thing in life.
