Manual Milling on Pocket NC V2-50?

Hello,

I was wondering if it was possible to use the Pocket NC V2-50 as a small manual mill by controlling it with the machine control pendant. I am mostly just looking to do this for squaring stock that will be used for future CNC operations. It seems like it would be easier and faster to square/prep my stock if I can just do in manually instead of writing a program for each part that I want to prepare. I can currently control the motion of the machine without a problem using the pendant, but I don’t have a way to turn the spindle on so I can actually cut material. I have tried using the manual section of the Kinetic Control UI to directly enter “S10000”, but for some reason the spindle doesn’t come on. Is there a reason that I cannot manually turn the spindle on (wrong command or this is specifically blocked)? I am new to CNC machining so if there is an easier way to accomplish this, please let me know.

Thanks,
Ryan

@rcoman If you go to the manual input and type S10000 M03 it should start the spindle. To stop the spindle type M05. M04, in case you were wondering , will make the spindle rotate in the opposite direction.

I have a Tormach CNC mill and will frequently square up stock manually when I don’t want to bother with CAM or conversational programming. That works fine for me with the same pendant that Pnta sells for the PocketNC.
