After struggles to get the Pocket NC v1 to run with the current fusion360 post processor, decided to order the Kinetic upgrade.
Does anyone here with experience upgrading the v1 with the Kinetic microSD card?
Is it as simple as just booting the machine with Kinetic card inserted in the BBB?
I did the upgrade and it’s a new circuit board (plug and play with the old one) and sdcard. Super easy to do and well worth it.
The instructions you will get explain everything very clearly. Good luck and enjoy the advanced Kinetic Control.

I have received an answer from Matt @ Pentamachine saying that the hardware including the original board ( BeagleBone Black - Serial Number > 300) would be compatible with the Kinetic upgrade.
I should receive the card on Monday.
Will report back in case anyone in the same situation wonders.
Do you have the green model?
Mine is silver/black. SN < 300 (mistakenly referred to SN > 300 in original post…)
Likely to have the same BBB version as you had.
Received the Kinetic upgrade card.
Manual that comes with it says :
“NOTE : If your machine was purchased before September1 2019 or has a serial number of 1800 or lower, please refer to the appendix at the end of this guide.”
Just a double sided print and refers to v2 model, no appendix
Will wait for confirmation from Pentamachine or owner with the same hardware that have been through the upgrade before proceeding.
Mine is also black and silver. I don’t have it at home currently so can’t check.
It was a very easy process to upgrade. Remove old daughter board. Plug in new daughter board. Insert sd card. Done.
I’m pretty sure I made a step by step guide and uploaded it. I’ll try to find.
Cheers

Thank you for the informations!
How much did you pay for board + software?
Also read in the google groups :
“The BB isn’t powerful enough to run the UI from a browser on it, so a connected computer is required.”
Even with the new board?
Thats disappointing. Loved the standalone ability with machineKit…
Definitely powerful enough. I can’t remember the price at the time. Was between 250-300¥ plus shipping to Japan. Well worth it and it is powwrful enough to run remote from a web browser.
“Well worth it and it is powerful enough to run remote from a web browser.”
You mean with an external PC right?
I meant, to run it directly from the machine, just with HDMI screen, mouse and keyboard.
Not tried cutting yet but everything seems fine.
Running 5.5.9
Note: Tried to upgrade to 5.8.4, Kinetic accessible over network but machine would not connect and Kinetic/Config/Network would not display any information. After reverting to 5.5.9, everything worked again.
